THE IMPACT OF THE EUROPEAN UNION'S DEFORESTATION REGULATION ANALYSED IN PERU

At the invitation of the World Bank and the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), Component 2 of AL-INVEST Verde participated in various meetings in Lima with public and private actors responsible for the agro-export chains of timber, coffee, cocoa and palm oil. During the meetings, the impact of the European Union's deforestation regulation on their exports was analysed.

TRACEABILITY OF THE PALM SECTOR

Good practices implemented in Guatemala to ensure crop sustainability 

When we talk about traceability, we refer to the implementation of processes or procedures that make it possible to be certain of the origin and the route, in a production cycle, through which a raw material or product passes. Therefore, traceability systems make it possible to ensure the origin of a product or raw material. In the case of palm oil, traceability systems based on satellite monitoring and analysis are relevant because they constitute a technical basis to ensure that the crop was established and developed from the beginning, free of deforestation; it can be demonstrated that there was no substitution of forests for the establishment of the palm plantation.

PARTICIPATION AT THE LINEAPELLE FAIR IN MILAN ON TRACEABILITY IN THE LEATHER SECTOR IN PARAGUAY

AL-INVEST Verde Component 2 participated in the international leather and accessories exhibition Lineapelle 2023 in Milan (Italy). During the panel "Traceability and circularity in the international leather value chain", Lorenzo Nalin, programme manager of AL-INVEST Verde, presented the activities that the programme is currently developing in this field in Paraguay.
