Component 1 of the European Union's AL-INVEST Verde programme is making progress in its objective of promoting job creation and sustainability in the Latin American region. This EU initiative presented its progress at its annual event, entitled #CONEXIÓNVerde, an initiative that took place in the framework of the 50th General Assembly of AICO (Ibero-American organisation that integrates and coordinates Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as related entities).
Workshops in Uruguay on certification of agro-exportable products from native forest land
Component 2 of AL-INVEST Verde organised together with the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) of Uruguay the workshop "Certification of agro-exportable products from native forests" to foster dialogue on the importance of sustainably managing native forests and, consequently, the opportunity to certify the sustainability of their products.
Uruguay and Paraguay visit agroforestry certification experiences in Spain
A delegation of technicians from the Directorate General of Forestry of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (DGF-MGAP) of Uruguay and the Investment and Export Network (REDIEX) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Paraguay visited Spain from 25 to 29 September to learn about agroforestry certification experiences. The visit was part of the technical assistance that Component 2 of AL-INVEST Verde, led by FIIAPP in consortium with IILA, provides to both institutions through IDAF (Centre for Applied Research on Agroforestry Development).
Dialogue on the forestry chain at the VII Italian-Latin American SMEs Forum
The dialogue "The sustainability of the wood chain in Latin America: opportunities of a growing sector and challenges of the European export regulations", organised in the framework of the VII Italy-Latin America SME Forum, took place on 3 October. The event, an initiative of the International Italo-Latin American Organisation (IILA), was held from 2 to 4 October in Bergamo (Italy).
AL-INVEST Verde at Lineapelle Fair in Milan
In the framework of the International Leather, Accessories, Components and Leather Goods Show, Lineapelle, held from 19 to 21 September in Milan (Italy), AL-INVEST Verde presented the results of the report "Environmental traceability as a tool for the competitiveness of Paraguayan meat and leather".
Diagnostic of the meat and leather value chain in Paraguay
AL-INVEST Verde has analysed the structure of the Paraguayan meat and leather value chain and the traceability systems implemented in the country. The results of this work are included in the report "Environmental traceability as a tool for the competitiveness of Paraguayan meat and leather", which includes a proposal for a pilot project on environmental traceability.
