Lorenzo Nalin, programme manager of the AL-INVEST Verde programme, participated in this panel, where he presented the related activities that the programme carries out in collaboration with the MERCOSUR countries.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting, they discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the leather sector in view of the recent approval, in June 2023, of the European regulation of <a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/reglamentos-de-cadenas-de-suministro-libres-de-deforestacion\/\">deforestation and forest degradation free products<\/a>. Lorenzo Nalin presented the main findings of the study \".<a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Iniciativas_rastreabilidade_ENG.pdf\">Traceability initiatives in the meat and leather value chains in Brazil<\/a>\"and detailed other actions of AL-INVEST Verde in Argentina, Brazil and <a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/paraguay-cuero\/\">Paraguay<\/a>and the elaboration of a regional study on the traceability of meat and leather in Latin America.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The panel was attended by important actors of the leather chain, such as the president of the National Union of the Tanning Industry (UNIC), <strong>Luca Boltri<\/strong>who moderated the panel; the President of the European Tanning Association (COTANCE), <strong>Gustavo<\/strong> <strong>Gonz\u00e1lez Quijano,<\/strong> as well as representatives of the private sector, such as <strong>Francesco Matelli<\/strong>of MATELLI Srl. Also participating <strong>Giulia Martin, <\/strong>of UNIC, and <strong>Federico Brugnoli<\/strong>of Spin360.
