{"id":21924,"date":"2026-10-26T17:35:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-26T16:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/?p=21924"},"modified":"2026-10-26T17:35:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-26T16:35:12","slug":"al-invest-verde-impulsa-una-nueva-generacion-de-mipymes-mas-sostenibles-y-competitivas-en-america-latina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/al-invest-verde-impulsa-una-nueva-generacion-de-mipymes-mas-sostenibles-y-competitivas-en-america-latina\/","title":{"rendered":"AL-INVEST Verde is driving a new generation of more sustainable and competitive micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Latin America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thousands of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Latin America have strengthened their sustainability and competitiveness through the initiatives carried out by AL-INVEST Verde, a programme funded by the European Union, with tangible results in the adoption of sustainable practices, resource efficiency, the creation of green and digital jobs, sales growth and new business opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These results form part of the activities carried out through the Direct Implementation Consortium for the Programme\u2019s private sector support component. This consortium, led by sequa gGmbH, a globally active development organisation, worked alongside business organisations in Latin America and Europe to implement various types of initiatives: technical assistance, training, sustainability tools and business networking opportunities, for the benefit of Latin American MSMEs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Results from the regions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Guatemala, AGEXPORT (Guatemalan Exporters\u2019 Association) worked with export sectors such as coffee, cocoa, ornamental plants and various agricultural products, promoting traceability, georeferencing, production efficiency, digitalisation and the circular economy, whilst strengthening the capacity of producers and MSMEs to meet international market standards and requirements and to generate more business. 1,341 MSMEs took part in the activities and 2,200 adopted sustainable business practices; 150 obtained sustainability standards and\/or certifications, 200 increased their turnover and a further 200 reported having made savings in resource use as a result of the support received; two new digital services were developed and institutionalised within AGEXPORT. In addition, six business meetings were held, attended by more than 180 representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Brazil, the CACB (Confederation of Brazilian Trade and Business Associations) utilised its national network of trade associations and state confederations, to promote sustainability amongst businesses in the agriculture, industry, commerce and services sectors, addressing areas such as ESG, sustainable fashion, waste management, the circular economy, resource efficiency and sustainable tourism. More than 9,000 MSMEs took part in the initiatives, 5,300 adopted sustainable business practices, 4,675 achieved resource savings and 4,659 increased their turnover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Bolivia, CAINCO (the Santa Cruz Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Services and Tourism) drove the green transition and strengthened the competitiveness of MSMEs by promoting the adoption of sustainable business practices and linking them to new business and financing opportunities. Through AL-INVEST Verde, it developed initiatives in the circular economy, waste management, energy efficiency, sustainable construction, carbon markets and green finance, combining technical assistance, specialised training and platforms for business collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among its key outcomes, four green business matchmaking events stand out, bringing together 436 representatives from MSMEs, generating more than 1,550 business meetings and business opportunities worth approximately US$$37 million. Furthermore, businesses\u2019 capacities were strengthened through eco-efficiency assessments, roadmaps for adopting sustainable practices and business mentoring, including support for more than 50 MSMEs. Furthermore, the training of specialist auditors and the development of sustainability-focused business services were promoted, helping 50 companies to obtain sustainability certifications and strengthening local capacities to ensure the continuity of the green transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Peru, the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) promoted the sustainability and competitiveness of MSMEs in the industrial, commercial and service sectors, as well as in agricultural production and export chains, through assessments, technical assistance and trade promotion initiatives. As a result, 1,660 MSMEs adopted sustainable practices, 1,717 reported significant savings in resource use and 2,461 increased their sales thanks to their participation in the programme. In addition, 36 business meetings were held, bringing together 3,700 representatives from MSMEs, thereby strengthening their commercial ties and generating new business opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Mexico, COPARMEX Jalisco (Employers\u2019 Confederation of the Mexican Republic, Jalisco) supported agricultural, industrial and commercial MSMEs in adopting circular economy practices, sustainable production, ESG and resource efficiency. More than 4,700 MSMEs took part in the programme\u2019s various activities; 2,177 adopted sustainable economic practices; 1,956 reported resource savings; 1,452 increased their sales; and 1,556 green and digital jobs have been created. It is worth noting that more than 400 small agave producers are implementing regenerative agriculture techniques on their plantations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bi-regional dimension of AL-INVEST Verde was strengthened by the participation of EUROCHAMBRES (Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry), which helped to mobilise European expertise, connect MSMEs and business organisations in Latin America and Europe, and foster new institutional and commercial partnerships. More than 2,000 representatives from MSMEs and European and Latin American institutions took part in knowledge-sharing activities, strengthening cooperation between the business ecosystems of both regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21926\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-300x300-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-500x500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles-12x12.jpg 12w, https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2.200-mipymes-adoptaron-practicas-sostenibles.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sustainability that translates into competitiveness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the work of the AL-INVEST Verde Direct Implementation Consortium has helped to translate the green transition into tangible results for MSMEs in Latin America: businesses that adopted sustainable practices, saved on resource use, increased their sales, created green and digital jobs, gained access to standards and certifications, secured new business opportunities and strengthened their readiness to compete in international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results achieved highlight the role played by business organisations: guiding the green transition of MSMEs, offering financing alternatives, cooperation and knowledge transfer, building capacity, developing specialised tools and services, and facilitating commercial opportunities in the domestic and international markets \u2013 all of which will continue to be utilised beyond the end of the Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This combination of skills, experience and networks forms part of the legacy of the direct implementation of the Private Sector Support Component of AL-INVEST Verde, which helps to build a more sustainable and competitive Latin American private sector that is ready to respond to new market opportunities and demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the AL-INVEST Verde Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AL-INVEST Verde is a European Union programme whose main objective is to promote sustainable growth and job creation in Latin America by supporting the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and more circular economy. Through the Private Sector Support Component, the programme co-finances the implementation of innovative partnership projects between the EU and Latin America, for the benefit of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), to promote the adoption of sustainable practices.
