The initiatives are developed in <strong>Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.<\/strong>This is the first of its kind in the EU, where efforts are being made in the public and private sectors, as well as for the promotion of intellectual property rights.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AL-INVEST Verde is the sixth edition of the programme, which has been running for almost 30 years in response to the EU's desire to cooperate with Latin America. This new phase, which starts at the end of 2021, is part of the European strategy <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/priorities-2019-2024\/stronger-europe-world\/global-gateway_es\">Global Gateway<\/a>The European Commission's new EU strategy, which helps to address the most pressing global challenges, such as the fight against climate change, is a key element of the European Union's strategy.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of AL-INVEST Verde is to <strong>supporting the transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient and more circular economy<\/strong>The EU is working with Latin America to facilitate the implementation of sustainable production models. Green transition and sustainable growth are priorities for the EU, which is why it cooperates with Latin America for the sustainable development of the region.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-240432e elementor-widget elementor-widget-html\" data-id=\"240432e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"html.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/edtte-GrwTw?si=PgNH2mON8VOR-rw-\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1a2f4d5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1a2f4d5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-677b50a\" data-id=\"677b50a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bdcdf0a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bdcdf0a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Programme components<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>In its development, AL-INVEST Verde is divided into three components working respectively with Latin American small and medium-sized enterprises, public institutions and entities in charge of the management of intellectual property rights.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/acerca-del-componente-1\/\"><strong>Component 1<\/strong><\/a> -led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sequa.de\/\">sequa<\/a>The German development organisation - a German development organisation - manages funds for the implementation of partnership projects between organisations on both continents. It is planned to allocate <strong>up to EUR 25 million to support green economy initiatives<\/strong> for the benefit of small and medium-sized enterprises in Latin America. There are currently 24 projects under implementation, corresponding to two thematic batches. The first is focused on deforestation-free agri-food systems and value chains, and the second on the transition to low-carbon, resource-efficient and circular business models.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>\"The efficiency, reuse and resource optimisation mechanisms that drive our projects give SMEs an advantage, as they open up opportunities for growth by meeting EU sustainability requirements,\" says Frank Summa, director of Component 1.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>For its part, the <a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/acerca-del-componente-2\/\"><strong>Component 2<\/strong><\/a> -led by the Spanish Cooperation system entity <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiiapp.org\/\">FIIAPP<\/a> and the International Italo-Latin American Organisation, <a href=\"https:\/\/iila.org\/es\/\">IILA<\/a>- promotes the <strong>public policy development<\/strong> to enable Latin American countries to meet EU-recognised environmental and labour standards for the sustainability of value chains. Cooperate with public institutions to promote a sustainable trade and economic policy, consistent with the commitments adopted in the Trade and Association Agreements with the European Union.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Since the launch of AL-INVEST Verde, the programme has been working with the MERCOSUR countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay), Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.<em>. <\/em>\"Activities focus on promoting sustainability in the value chains of coffee, cocoa, meat and leather, timber, soya and derivatives, among others. We cooperate with countries in complying with regulations such as the European Green Pact and the <a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/reglamentos-de-cadenas-de-suministro-libres-de-deforestacion\/\">Deforestation and forest degradation free supply chains regulation<\/a> of the European Union,\" explains Emilio Calvo, director of Component 2.<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/alinvest-verde.eu\/en_gb\/acerca-del-componente-3\/\"><strong>Component 3<\/strong><\/a>by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euipo.europa.eu\/es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Union Intellectual Property Office<\/a> (EUIPO), seeks to achieve greater <strong>use and effectiveness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)<\/strong> in Latin America, particularly in the MERCOSUR countries and Chile. Its purpose is to expand and improve the use of IPRs to boost opportunities for research cooperation and stimulate competitiveness and sustainable innovation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>\"Our actions so far are focused on improving IPR management and their application to promote sustainable development. Working together with reference offices in the region, such as the National Institute of Intellectual Property, INPI, in Brazil, we promote good practices and the exchange of experiences. One area of particular importance is training and mentoring in intellectual property for producers, as a means to promote regional sustainable development.
