Colombia hosts the closing event of the "Dialogues on sustainable coffee".
Representatives of the European Union, Latin American coffee producing countries and international organisations met at the Chamber of Commerce of Huila, in the Colombian municipality of Pitalito, to celebrate the closing event of the cycle "Dialogue and exchange of experiences on sustainability in the coffee value chain". On 13 and 14 December, systems and instruments for the traceability of the coffee value chain, challenges and opportunities in the region were analysed.
Meeting with Colombian agro-industrial sectors to export sustainably to the EU
From 21 November to 6 December, in collaboration with ProColombia and the Colombian Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (MINCIT), the following events were organised seven dialogue roundtables with Colombian agro-industrial sectors. The roundtables were attended by participation of public institutions and the private sectorThe EU and the European Union have worked together to develop a roadmap to meet the sustainability requirements for export to the EU.
Component 1 closed its Second Call for Proposals. Component 1 announced the successful closure of its Second Call for Proposals for innovative projects. 161 initiatives were received, of which 42 projects that put innovation and sustainability at the centre have been selected. These projects will focus on two main pillars: the promotion of deforestation-free agricultural value chains and the transition towards low-carbon, resource-efficient and more circular business models. These pillars of work enable the drive towards a greener and more responsible economy. The diversity and regional scope of these projects will allow for a significant impact on SMEs and small producers. They will be implemented throughout most of Latin America in countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
