Dialogue with Colombian agro-industrial sectors for sustainable exports to the EU

Bogotá, 07 December 2023. From 21 November to 6 December, AL-INVEST Verde, in collaboration with ProColombia and the Colombian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism (MINCIT), has organised a total of seven dialogue roundtables with the country's agro-industrial sectors. The roundtables have been attended by participation of public institutions and the private sectorThe EU has been working together on the development of a roadmap to meet sustainability requirements for export to the EU.

Organised in a mixed format (face-to-face and online), the roundtables were held at Bogotá and Santa Marta. More than a hundred people took part in them, including representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, affiliated bodies, companies and business associations, sectoral associations, financial institutions and donors, among others.

During the sessions, the characteristics of the sectors of the flowers, fresh fruits, palm oil, palm oil, cane sugar, cocoa, sacha inchi, coffee and its derivativess. As a result of the dialogue and joint work, a roadmap will be drawn up with recommendations and specific actions for each sector, with a view to achieving the sustainability of products exported to the European Union.

The dialogue roundtables are part of the technical assistance provided to MINCIT and ProColombia by AL-INVEST VerdeTrack Global Solutions, to identify the challenges, opportunities and needs of the Colombian agro-industrial sectors in the face of the requirements derived from the European Green Pact for exports to the European Union.

Within the framework of this action, a diagnosis has been drawn up on the needs and opportunities for exports to the EU of the aforementioned Colombian agro-industrial products, in addition to the roadmap resulting from these dialogues. Based on this, in a next stage, training on sustainability and exports adapted to the prioritised sectors will be provided.
