THE PROGRAMME

AL-INVEST Verde is a programme funded by the European Union for promoting sustainable growth and job creation in Latin America. Its objective is to support the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and more circular economy, to facilitate the implementation of sustainable production models within the framework of the strategy. It has a budget of 37.7 million euros and a five-year implementation period starting in October 2021. 

In its development, the programme is divided into three components working respectively with Latin American small businesses, public institutions in the region and the management of intellectual property rights.

Component 1. Innovation and green transition of SMEs 

Component 1 is implemented under the leadership of sequa next to a Implementing ConsortiumThe European Commission, made up of various organisations from the region. Its main objective is to manage funds for the implementation of innovative partnership projects between organisations in Latin America and the European Union.

Component 2. Technical assistance to the public sector

Component 2 is implemented by the Foundation for the Internalisation of Public Administrations (FIAP), in consortium with the International Italo-Latin American Organisation (IILA). Its objective is to provide technical assistance to the Latin American public sector to promote sustainable value chains.

Component 3. Use of intellectual property for sustainable development

Component 3 is implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Its main objective is to promote the use of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) as a crucial driver of competitiveness and innovation to protect value generation by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
