AL-INVEST VERDE ANNOUNCES SECOND CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO BOOST THE GREEN ECONOMY IN LATIN AMERICA
AL-INVEST Verde, a programme funded by the European Union (EU), seeks to promote the sustainable growth of SMEs in Latin America by supporting their transition towards a more circular economy, enabling them to implement sustainable practices such as reducing the carbon footprint of their processes and increasing efficiency in the use of resources. Thus, Component 1 of the programme opens a second call for proposals for innovative projects to expand funding opportunities for green economy initiatives.
DEFORESTATION-FREE SUPPLY CHAIN REGULATION
On 6 December, the Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the regulation on deforestation and forest degradation-free supply chains. This regulation establishes mandatory due diligence rules for all operators trading or exporting from the European Union (EU) the following commodities: palm oil, beef, timber, coffee, cocoa, rubber and soybeans.
SUPPORT TO URUGUAY TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE CERTIFICATION OF NATIVE FORESTS
Component 2 has started to provide technical assistance to the General Forestry Directorate (DGF) of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay to promote a public certification system that guarantees the sustainable management of native forests. In this way, it hopes to help preserve the country's forests and boost territorial economic development.
HIGH-LEVEL SEMINAR IN PARAGUAY TO PROMOTE DIALOGUE ON LEATHER SUSTAINABILITY AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE
The Investment and Export Network (REDIEX) of the Paraguayan Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIC), with the support of AL-INVEST Verde, organised a high-level seminar to foster dialogue on the importance of sustainability in the meat and leather value chain as a tool to favour international trade.
STRENGTHENING JUDGES' KNOWLEDGE OF TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT IN MERCOSUR AND CHILE
The "International Seminar on Trademark Infringement for Judges from MERCOSUR and Chile" will be held on 20 and 21 June. This event, jointly organised by Componente 3, the Directorate of Intellectual Property of the Supreme Court of Paraguay and the National Directorate of Intellectual Property of Paraguay (DINAPI), with the collaboration of INTA (International Trademark Association), aims to provide participants with a broad and practical perspective on trademark protection and the fight against infringement.
