Component 1 of the AL-INVEST Verde programme held its annual event in Antigua, Guatemala.

Guatemala, 22 March 2024. Component 1 of the AL-INVEST Verde programme has been advancing in its objective of promoting job creation and sustainability in the Latin American region. Thus, it presented its progress and promoted the exchange of experiences between organisations representing the private sector during its annual event, entitled #CONEXIÓNVerde, which was framed in AGRITRADE, a platform that promotes agricultural development and the increase of exports, generating business, employment and economic growth, held in the city of Antigua, Guatemala.

The event organised by the Association of Exporters of Guatemala - AGEXPORT and sequa was attended by the partnership projects that are being implemented as part of the activities of Component 1, experts in sustainable agriculture, climate change, green and digital jobs, circular economy and waste management such as plastic; as well as members of the Delegation of the European Union in Guatemala. All of them met with a view to seeking opportunities that allow the generation of initiatives that impact the growth of SMEs in the region.

The meeting opened on 12 March and focused on the Circular Economy and Sustainable Value Chains. Experts provided guidance on how companies can adopt eco-efficient policies and processes. It also included panel discussions and presentations with a particular focus on the Green Pact, EU-funded sustainable initiatives and no deforestation.

Through Component 1, the programme manages funds for the implementation of innovative projects of small business associations to boost sustainable practices in the private sector. Component 1 is led by sequa, a German non-profit organisation operating worldwide with the aim of promoting the private sector.
