Design review training

On 12 and 13 March, an online training session will be held on the examination of designs for the intellectual property offices of MERCOSUR countries, Chile and other Latin American countries.

The event, organised in conjunction with the IP cooperation project IP Key Latin AmericaThe aim of the Regulation is to improve the skills of intellectual property registrars, in particular industrial design examiners.

Led by experts from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the two-day training aims to familiarise participants with EU methodologies and procedures in design examination. Key topics to be covered include:

  • Registrability criteria such as novelty and originality
  • Partial registration of objects
  • Dual protection by industrial designs and copyright
  • Creative aspects of technological designs, including GUI and icon designs
