Deforestation-free supply chains regulation

Brussels, 22 May 2023 - On 6 December last, the Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the regulation on deforestation and forest degradation-free supply chains. The Parliament approved the Regulation on 19 April 2023. Following its adoption by the Council, it was published in the Official Journal of the EU.

This regulation establishes mandatory due diligence standards for all operators marketing or exporting from the European Union (EU) the following raw materials: palm oil, beef, timber, timber, coffee, cocoa, rubber and soya beans.

This regulation is expected to enter into force in May or June and the list of channels will be regularly extended in order to ensure that, throughout the production chain, they have not contributed to deforestation or forest degradation.
