An Argentine delegation made up of representatives of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (SAGyP), the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA) and the sector's chambers of commerce (CIAFA, CABIO and CASAFE) visited the European Union from 20 to 24 April to analyse opportunities for access to the European bio-inputs market. The mission took place within the framework of the assistance provided by AL-INVEST Verde to SAGyP, through the technical support of CREA Italy, for strengthening institutional and regulatory capacitiess of Argentina in the commercialisation of bio-inputs.
The agenda began in Roma with a meeting at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture (MASAF), where issues of regulatory convergence, trade in biostimulants and sustainable agricultural innovation were discussed. Both parties expressed interest in deepening cooperation and facilitating trade exchange.
On 21 and 22 April, the delegation participated in MACFRUT 2026, one of the main European agricultural fairs, held in Rimini. In this framework, the workshop "Opportunities for sustainable trade in biofertilisers between Argentina and the EU", The event, which brought together public and private stakeholders to discuss standards of sustainability, regulatory challenges and market opportunities. The event confirmed the growing global interest in biofertilisers and Argentina's potential as a supplier for Europe.
On 23 April, in Brussels, The delegation held meetings with European associations in the sector -ECOFI, CropLife Europe, EBIC, IBMA and Biocontrol Coalition- to exchange experiences on registration processes, technical barriers and trends in innovation. Finally, on 24 April, a meeting was held with representatives of DG-INTPA, DG-GROW, DG-SANTE and DG-ENV to analyse the regulatory frameworks applicable to bioinputs in the EU and Argentina.
This mission is part of the second phase of the technical assistance implemented by AL-INVEST Verde together with CREA Italy, aimed at strengthening the Argentinean regulatory framework, promoting sustainability standards and facilitating access of Argentinean bioinputs to the European market.
