Ecuadorian palm oil, towards a sustainable and deforestation-free production model

The main objective of the project is to develop a traceability system that identifies the location of palm producers in the north and south of the country, using technological tools and satellite images (Copernicus), to identify the origin of palm fruit production at the polygon level and validate the degree of deforestation incidence, thus boosting the competitiveness of Ecuadorian palm oil production for the EU and other international markets.

The specific objectives of the project are as follows:

  • Implement sustainable actions in MSMEs in order to develop transparent and verified deforestation-free supply chains.

They are defined as final beneficiaries: palm oil extractors and palm oil industrialists.

The target groups of the project are the following: Farmers, palm producers in the areas of Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo, Pichincha, Imbabura, Manabí, Los Ríos, Guayas, El Oro and Santa Elena.
