Development of a unified management system for the Legal Meat Programme and strengthening of the monitoring, reporting and verification process.

In collaboration with the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) of Brazil, support is provided for the development of a unified management system for the Legal Meat Programme and the strengthening of monitoring, reporting and verification procedures. in the states of Acre, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia and Tocantins. The Legal Meat Programme began in 2009 to regularise the livestock production chain by signing Terms of Adjustment of Conduct (TAC) with slaughterhouses, which undertake to buy raw material from producers who respect the environmental legislation established in the Forestry Code, to have properties registered in the Rural Environmental Register (CAR) and to respect labour, human and indigenous peoples' rights. 

Implementation period: November 2023 - August 2025.

Expected results

  1. Development of the unified management system of the Legal Meat Programme for the states of Acre, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia and Tocantins.

  2. Face-to-face and virtual training The working teams of the states that make up the carne Legal Programme in the proposal for a unified management system.

  3. Support to the MPF in the planning and implementation of two annual audit cyclesThe EU has also adopted, in 2024 and 2025, the Terms of Conduct Adjustment.

  4. Proposal for procedure for the identification, monitoring and qualification of suppliers of livestock, direct and indirect, that comply with the TAC.

  5. Institutionalisation roadmap of the procedures of the unified management system.
