The main objective of the project is to encourage small and medium-sized producers in the agricultural sector in Argentina, associated with CREA groups, to be more efficient in the use of resources, ensuring sustainability in food production and related value chains. To achieve this, the CREA Environmental Management service will be implemented.
CREA's Environmental Management is a process of continuous improvement that seeks to incorporate the environmental dimension in the decision-making of farmers and CREA groups, with a systemic vision of production models. Following CREA's methodology of learning from the experiences of peers, GAC provides tools to assess the environmental performance of farms against the same standard. Four key intervention areas have been identified for implementing Environmental Management, which address the main challenges of the project:
- Awareness Raising and TrainingThe aim is to raise awareness and train both MSMEs in the agricultural sector in Argentina and CREA technicians in the importance of incorporating the environmental dimension into business management.
- Realisation of new toolsThe aim is to develop local, sectoral and digital tools that enable environmental management adapted to different geographical and productive realities.
- Establishment of CREA Environmental ManagementCREA: It is proposed to promote the incorporation and implementation of the CREA Environmental Management tool by MSMEs in the agricultural sector that are members of CREA.
Agreements for the co-creation of Environmental Management: Seeks to promote collaborative, inclusive and effective environmental management in the preservation and restoration of biodiversity by identifying key stakeholders and actors who can contribute to the goal of biodiversity preservation and restoration.
