AL-INVEST Verde supports "Good business practices in gender equality" strategy in Uruguay

AL-INVEST Verde supported the organisation of two seminars held in the framework of the strategy "Good business practices in gender equity", implemented by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay and UN Women.

On 5 April, the 2nd seminar of this initiative was held, entitled "Experiences of agro-exporting companies in Latin America and the European Union".. Experiences from both regions were shared, aimed at agro-exporting entrepreneurs and people involved in the planning of private actions or public policies to support the sector.

On 27 May, the 3rd seminar was organised, entitled "Challenges for exporting to Europe in agriculture, internationalisation with a gender perspective".. The seminar focused on the promotion of the gender perspective in the Uruguayan agro-export sector, where there are gender gaps in employment, in management positions and in those who access the international market. On this occasion, the seminar was aimed at the public and private sector, academia and staff of international organisations with links to trade, export policies and agriculture, mainly.

The strategy was launched in 2023 with the 1st seminar on "Win-win experiences in agriculture, fisheries and agribusiness". Held on 12 September, it analysed gender gaps and women's empowerment principles (WEPs) as a tool for gender-sensitive management, together with various positive experiences.
