The main objective of the project is to ensure the sustainability of Colombian specialty coffee value chains for compliance with European sustainability regulations and ambitions (European Green Pact and Due Diligence Directive.

The action will be implemented through the direct support of 200 MSME coffee producers, traders and exporters to Europe, integrated into traceable and deforestation-free value chains, with a special focus on the generation of sustainable and fair practical capacities for small Colombian companies.

The specific objectives of the project are as follows:

• Accompany coffee value chain actors in dialogue, negotiation and due diligence processes, integrating Colombian MSMEs into deforestation-free value chains and ensuring trade agreements that provide fair conditions.
• To ensure the sustainability of MSMEs producing, marketing and exporting coffee to the European market by adopting or improving a company-wide environmental and social management system and a product traceability system, in compliance with European sustainability regulations and ambitions.
• Promote the application at scale of a replicable model of support to MSMEs producing, marketing and exporting coffee to Europe, scalable in the department of Huila, through a public-private partnership.

The beneficiaries of the project will be mainly 200 MSME coffee producers, traders and exporters in the Department of Huila, Colombia, who will receive support to adopt practices to improve business sustainability by complying with European sustainability requirements and ambitions i.e. European Green Pact and to adopt a product traceability system ensuring that the product is free of deforestation. This in turn will indirectly benefit more than 1,000 families in the region and as stakeholders within the intervention will be all members of the coffee value chain.
