Work continues in Paraguay to support the sustainability of the forestry sector

Asunción, 02 March 2023. Within the framework of the technical assistance provided by AL-INVEST Verde to the Paraguayan Investment and Export Network (REDIEX), through the Component 2From 13 to 23 February, a technical mission was carried out in the country for the defining sustainable strategies in the forestry sector.

The mission included the participation of two Italian forestry experts, Mauro Masiero and Elena Massarenti, collaborators of ETIFOR S.r.l. Benefit Company, a spin-off company of the University of Padua, Italy, specialised in consultancy for the forestry sector. sustainable and innovative solutions in the forestry sector.

During the stay in the country, meetings were held with the key institutions involved in the project, such as REDIEX, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIC), the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the National Forestry Institute (INFONA), the Paraguayan Federation of Woodworkers (FEPAMA) and the Association of Woodworkers of Caaguazú. These meetings were accompanied by the Delegation of the European Union (EUD) of Paraguay.

Subsequently, field visits and interviews were carried out with representatives of the leather chain. The information gathered will provide information on the current situation regarding the sustainability of the production and industrialisation process of Paraguayan forestry sector products and will enable an analysis of opportunities and challenges for the export of forestry products to the European market to be drawn up.
