Paraguayan companies' transition to sustainable and low-carbon production

The project aims to improve the productivity and competitiveness of enterprises by adopting an innovative culture to achieve sustainable economic growth through energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, circular economy and the 2030 agenda.

To this end, the carbon footprint calculation tool is implemented in Paraguayan companies in order to mitigate the effects of emissions on the environment and adopt good practices in environmental management through the European transfer of environmental regulations.

Beneficiaries:

The main beneficiaries are the following:

  • National Industrial CompaniesThey will benefit directly through training and technical assistance to meet new environmental standards, an upcoming international/local market requirement. They will also develop low carbon production systems.
  • Chamber of Sustainable Industries of Paraguay (CISPY)The project will receive technical assistance to systematise good sustainable production practices and support in the development of regulatory aspects in the environmental field, including the carbon credits market.
  • Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES)The project will benefit from linking with the private sector for carbon footprint measurement and joint training and exchange of experiences.
  • Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP)The project will lead the project and establish an Environmental Management Unit to offer services to MSMEs, oriented towards sustainable production solutions.
  • Valencia Chamber of CommerceEuropean partner that will contribute through training and technical assistance to structure the work methodology of the IPU Environmental Unit.
  • MSMEsEspecially the 400 MSMEs that have been strengthened through the MiPyme Compite Programme will be direct beneficiaries by being strengthened in environmental issues, which are important for the market.

    These beneficiaries will participate in various project activities, such as the implementation of carbon footprint calculation tools, training in environmental management and the adoption of good sustainable practices.
