Lima Chamber of Commerce, member of the AL-INVEST Verde Consortium, receives recognition for its outstanding environmental commitment

The Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) has recently been awarded the "Carbon Footprint Award for Environmental Sustainability - Level 4" by the Ministry of Environment, in recognition of its outstanding efforts in reducing greenhouse gases and its commitment to environmental sustainability. This recognition underlines the CCL's leadership as the first business association in Peru to achieve carbon neutrality.

This achievement is particularly relevant in the context of the AL-INVEST Verde programme, funded by the European Union. AL-INVEST Verde aims to promote sustainable business practices and support small and medium-sized enterprises in Latin America to adopt innovative environmental solutions. CCL, as implementing partner of the programme in Peru, is key to the implementation of these objectives, facilitating cooperation between companies and promoting the adoption of green practices.

The effort we make as an institution is focused on reducing greenhouse gases and for that we have taken a series of actions, both in saving water and in green IT. It is an honour for us to have obtained this recognition and a source of pride at the same time because we are the first business association in the country to be carbon neutral."comments Roberto De La Tore, president of the CCL.

The Lima Chamber of Commerce's commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality not only reflects its leadership at the national level, but also its alignment with the main objective of the AL-INVEST Verde programme which works to foster sustainable private sector growth through the transition to a greener economy in the Latin American region.

"We congratulate the Lima Chamber of Commerce for this recognition which underlines the positive impact of their actions to promote sustainability. Their leadership and dedication not only support the goals of AL-INVEST Verde, but also inspire other organisations to adopt responsible practices and move towards ever more circular models", Irene Hadadd, team leader of the Programme, points out.

The recognition obtained by the CCL is a testament to its dedication to sustainability and reinforces the positive impact of the AL-INVEST Verde programme in Peru. By advancing emissions reductions and promoting responsible practices, the Lima Chamber of Commerce contributes significantly to the programme's objectives, supporting local businesses on their path to a more sustainable future.
