The AL-INVEST Verde programme, through the implementation of its Component 1, has been promoting the implementation of nine projects in Brazil, which seek to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as small producers through the implementation of green economy initiatives that emphasise sustainability and circularity. These projects have regional coverage, with emphasis on São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais and Rondônia, among other territories in the Amazon.
The initiatives focus on two key pillars: the promotion of deforestation-free agricultural value chains and the transition to more circular, low-carbon and resource-efficient business models. These pillars of work will help drive a greener and more responsible economy.
"We in Component 1 are very happy that these initiatives can be implemented. The diversity and regional scope of these projects will allow for a significant impact on local small entrepreneurs," says Irene Haddad, Team Leader of Component 1 of the AL-INVEST Verde programme.
Throughout its implementation, the programme will provide training, experience exchange activities, identification of good practices, networking activities and other actions to contribute to the productivity and competitiveness of SMEs in the region.
These projects are represented in Brazil by several institutions such as ACIUB, FGV, FACISC, PROFOREST, Amigos da Terra - Amazônia Brasileira, AHK São Paulo, Instituto Têxtil Focus and SEBRAE Rondônia. The programme is implemented throughout Latin America and, through Component 1, seeks to promote private sector development in the region. This component is led by sequa, a German organisation.
