AL-INVEST Verde participates in a workshop on EUDR organised by FAO and the World Bank in Guatemala.

AL-INVEST Verde was present at the workshop "Deforestation and forest degradation free coffee: access to markets and investments under new sustainability regulations".organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Bank on 16-17 May in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The workshop, held at the headquarters of the Asociación Nacional Del Café (Anacafé), brought together representatives from the public and private sectors of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Hondurasas well as national and international coffee federations, initiatives, international financial institutions, European and UN organisations.

On behalf of AL-INVEST Verde / Component 2implemented by FIAP and IILA, Andrea Damiani, programme manager, presented the Brazilian socio-environmental traceability platform Selo Verde, a free public tool developed by the Federal University of Minas Gerais through the Territorial Intelligence Centre (CIT).

This platform aims to promote the socio-environmental sustainability of agricultural value chains. To this end, it provides key information for traceability and transparency, in response to the requirements of the EUDR Regulation. AL-INVEST Verde has supported the implementation of Selo Verde in Minas Gerais and is currently supporting its development in the states of Espírito SantoAcre and Tocantins.

In addition, during the event, the following were presented national sector strategies from Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and El Salvador, among other issues. The objective was to identify a roadmap The EUDR Regulation is a general framework in the Central American region to prepare the coffee sector for compliance with the EUDR Regulation.
