The National Directorate of Intellectual Property of Paraguay (DINAPI) has become part of DESIGNclassa tool of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), adopting and accepting the list of terms of the harmonised database of product indications
(HDBPI).
With DINAPI's decision to use the HDBPI, there are now 44 IP offices participating in this initiative, including 19 from countries outside the European Union (EU). This adoption follows the integration of TMclass by the DINAPIanother key EUIPO tool, in May 2023.
DESIGNclass is a tool that allows users to search and translate product indications in 30 languages. With intuitive functions, HDBPI helps users to find the most suitable indications for their designs, ensuring correct classification and protection.
The HDBPI was developed jointly by the intellectual property offices of the EU member states and the EUIPO to improve the classification of the wide range of products eligible for design protection.
The adoption of the HDBPI by DINAPI is a tangible result of Component 3 of AL-INVEST Verde for Intellectual Property Rights, funded by the European Commission and implemented by the EUIPO. This integration follows in the footsteps of the Instituto Nacional de la Propiedad Industrial de Argentina (INPI-AR), which joined DesignClass in May 2023.
